It's good to see that a colleague of mine Andres Witterman has started his own blog recently. I've known this former journalist for a long-time and he's knowledgeable, skilled and energetic. It's a pleasure to work alongside him and he's done brilliantly right across Europe. I'm also indebted to another enormously talented colleague Morgan McLintic for spotting that Paul Holmes has just kicked off a blog. Paul is terrific - a lad from Morecambe, Lancashire in the UK who made it in the Big Apple with the Holmes Report.

Gordon Beattie

It's always refreshing to see journalists be successful in PR. Gordon Beattie is such a man. A flinty-eyed Scot, he has proved not just to be able to run a media business, but also firms in other areas as well. His media business has done exceptionally well growing to £7m of revenues drawn from eight UK offices. We discussed why neither of us had been active in industry associations. My excuse is lack of time. Gordon's is that he really comes from the newspaper side and doesn't actually have that much recognition of what the groups do or stand for. One thing's for sure, there's much the industry can learn from him. He's done an excellent job with his business and set a great example of how journalists can succeed not only in the PR business, but in the wider economy, too.
